“Love For His People in the Land” - Ahava Love Letter (Steve Martin)

“Love For His People in the Land”

"He chose the Promised Land as our inheritance,
the proud possession of Jacob's descendants, whom he loves.”
Psalm 47:4 Holy Bible, New Living Translation

(Note: I wrote this Ahava Love Letter in Jerusalem on Nov. 10, 2013, the day on which I completed my 11th trip to Israel since 1991. Absolutely more to come!)

Dear family of friends,

Our last full day in the Land of Israel is complete. We will be homeward bound to Charlotte,NC until our return for next year’s Ahava Adventure, with our ministry called Love For His People. This whole land, which has been promised to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their Jewish descendants, is beautiful. And more importantly are the people who live here,those whom are the heirs to this land called Eretz Yisrael in Hebrew.

My heart loves being among the Israelis. My Lord Jesus (Yeshua) placed His heart for His brethren, especially the Jews, in mine over 40 years ago. How could I not love His people?!

Our commitment to our friends here, fleshed out also in practical means through our humanitarian work of Love For His People, Inc. has gotten stronger. Enjoying meals with them; standing with them for their rightful place here as we encourage them with our presence; and meeting new friends has been great. We are so thankful to Yeshua HaMashiach for this.

On the other hand, I get so tired of the political maneuvering that goes on among the nations over this small land. Nation after nation is always calling for its division, when the Jewish state is itself so small when compared to the other Middle Eastern countries surrounding it. (New Jersey is the same size as that of all of Israel. What gives?)

My own country seems to like to take the lead in this effort, which grieves my heart at some points, and makes me angry at many other times. Trying to divide the land promised to the Jews will only bring curses on these governments own people. The Lord God of Israel will not allow His Word to be broken.

As He clearly states in Genesis 12:1-3:

“Now the Lord said to Abram,

"Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father's house,
To the land which I will show you;

And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;

And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed." (NASU)

Other Scriptures throughout the Bible speak of the results of those seeking to divide His land. Ones that try will themselves suffer the consequences He has truly spoken of. Even for those countries who mock the eternal Word, thinking they can decree what they want whenever they want, will certainly realize the resulting cost that their anti-Semitic choices have made. History itself has proven what happens to those nations that have risen up in opposition to Israel. As they have done that, they ended up actually opposing God Himself. And He still reigns, as they lay in the dust.

I leave Jerusalem and His people with confidence that they are protected and provided for. As the Lord Yeshua continues to reveal Himself to these He chose to come to earth through, the Jews, I believe they will come to the full knowledge of their promised Messiah, and thus trust fully in His salvation, which only Yeshua (Jesus) can provide.

Blessings on all ye heads, O People of Israel!

Ahava to my family of friends,

Steve Martin
